CALL FOR YOUTH ACTORS (ages 14-19)! Now is your chance to be part of Chicago's only professional, all-teen Shakespeare company and get paid to do what you love!
Chicago Youth Shakespeare is seeking up to 15 youth actors (ages 14-19*) for the 2022-23 CYS Ensemble and production of Romeo and Juliet.
*This opportunity is for young adult actors only.
CASTING ALL ROLES. All types, genders, abilities are encouraged to audition! No prior Shakespeare experience required.
Preliminary auditions are virtual. Callbacks will be in-person November 12-14, 2022 at The Greenhouse Theater Center
PRODUCTION DATES
- First Rehearsal: Tuesday, January 2, 2023
- Weeknights, M-Th 6-9pm
- Sundays, 1-5pm
NOTE: Actors will not be called for more than 3 weeknight rehearsals per week between January 2 and February 10. Times and days are subject to change for rehearsals.
Opening: February 17, 2023 at The Hoover-Leppen Theatre, Center on Halsted
Additional performance dates: February 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, and 26; plus up to three local touring dates between February 27 and March 10, 2023 (TBA)
Please prepare a Shakespeare monologue (any play/role/gender) that is approximately 1-2 min. in length. No sonnets, please!

- VIDEOS: Please either submit one (1) video file containing the submission (maximum file size: 20MB) - or, if your video file is larger than that, please upload a Word or PDF document that has a link to view your audition video online as either a direct YouTube or Vimeo link, or method *not* requiring the video to be downloaded for viewing.
