Outlaws Synopsis: The famous mobster Machine Gun Kelly died in Leavenworth Prison after a life of crime, but how did he get there? Without his wife Kathryn, he never even would have had that machine gun. Without his wife Kathryn, he wouldn't have needed one. Without his wife Kathryn, he never would have been a criminal in the first place... unless you count the rum running. Kathryn doesn't like to lose, and she'll risk everything to keep what she's worked for. This play takes us back to the Prohibition Era to confront love and law in a time when our country attempted to regulate morality and got a little lost in the process.
George "Machine Gun" Kelly (20s-30s, presents male) is a simple man and good bootlegger. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee-he's got great manners.
Kathryn Kelly (20s-30s, presents female) is Kelly's wife. She's a woman hard as hell and tired of being such a small timer.
Mudslide Slim (20s-30s, any gender identity) is dependable and chill.
Smackwater Jack (20s, presents male) is a church-goin' boy and loves his family, quiet in general.
Big Jim (30s-50s, presents male) the Chief is the local law man.
Note: There are several small roles that will be doubled and/or shared, from a shopkeeper to mobsters and lawmen.
