Project Title | The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Bedroom Scene |
Description:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Director’s Workshop Exercise at UT Austin
3-5 minutes projected length scene presented before class audience
The story:
• A freshman boy named Charlie befriends and falls in love with a senior named Sam. This scene occurs in Sam’s bedroom towards the end of the movie when Sam is about to leave for college. They begin talking about love and relationships until finally Sam confronts Charlie about why he never asked her out considering he has liked her for almost a year.
I am looking for actors to fill these two protagonist positions:
SAM, female, Late Teens – Early 20s, any ethnicity
• Sam is a high school senior who is about to leave her hometown filled with all of her high school friends to go off to college. She is spunky, adventurous and filled with adventure. She believes in making bonds with people and experiencing life for all that it is worth.
CHARLIE, male, Teens-Early 20s, any ethnicity
• Charlie is a freshman in high school who is trying to find himself. He befriends a girl named Sam and her stepbrother Patrick. Charlie is in love with Sam but is too polite to ever force his way into asking her out on a date. Before Sam and Patrick, Charlie did not truly have any friends in high school that connected with him on an emotional level. Charlie is on a journey to escape haunting realities that have scarred his past from childhood through middle school and move on to new chapters in his life with the coming years of high school and learning how to connect with others on an intimate level.
