Description:
Collaboraction, Chicago's Theatre For Social Change, is accepting submissions for the new MLK Speech Slam competition on January 20, 2020 at the 300 seat mainstage theater at Kennedy-King College as a part of their 3rd annual Encounter Series. We are looking for inspired performers to breathe life into the speeches and spirit of Dr. King in either a verbatim oration or a creative interpretation of this great civil rights visionary.
Submissions must be 7 minutes or less from a MLK speech in 1 of 2 categories: Traditional Oration or Creative Remix.
There will be a $1000 first place prize given to each category winner as selected by a panel of judges. There are additional prizes for second and third place.
You may upload a video to the application or audition at Kennedy-King College at 640 W 6rd St. on Dec. 5th between noon and 3 pm.
