Description:
A down to earth tale about a less than fortunate young man who finds salvation through friendship. A story about love, but not a romance. A story about humane interaction and showing compassion towards others. Orville Von Hammerstein wants nothing more than to become an aviator, but he has a minor setback. That being, Orville is mildly autistic. His condition, along with the passing of his father in an unfortunate test crash, has led Orville’s mother to forbid him from ever stepping foot on an aircraft. This all changes when Orville meets Sally Jenkins. Sally befriends Orville after a quirky incident at the local RC plane airfield. She then accepts Orville for who he is, and provides him with the things he wants most in the world: A friend, and a ride on an airplane.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Orville Von Hammerstein - Lead | Male | Caucasian | 15-17 | A mildly autistic high school freshman with an infatuation for aviation. Intelligent, loving, and fragile with a disorganized, quirky side. Introverted. Tragically outcast by the drones of popularity. 14-17. Falls for the attractive, popular, and older, senior girl. Longer, slicked back hair. Forrest Gump-ian in nature. |
Sally Jenkins - Lead | Female | Caucasian | 15-17 | The smart, pretty, fun-loving, and companionate girl next door. Tall and thin. 16-18. Popular, yet unconcerned with conventional high school cliques. Slightly bossy with an unfiltered mouth. Very confident. Befriends the less-than-fortunate, introverted, freshman boy. |
Ruby Von Hammerstein | Female | Caucasian | 31-40 | The “Helicopter Mom”. Neurotic and overbearing. Late 30’s, early 40’s. Loving and understanding. Extremely protective over her mildly autistic son, yet eventually realizes she must let him “spread his wings”. |
