Description:
Genre: Romantic Comedy/ Comedy Drama
A whimsical date film, based around a game of Scrabble. It’s about the ridiculous games people play when they are trying to find love. Two people are trying to connect over a shared love of wordplay, but an evening of miscommunication, stolen looks and misunderstandings ensues. By looking for meaning in the wrong places, they risk missing out on finding each other.
This is a low budget short, but we will pay expenses.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Holly | Female | Any Ethnicity | 25-30 | Mid 20s, average height and build. She is attractive but demure and is simply dressed like Charlotte Gainsbourg in the Silence of Sleep or Audrey Tatou in Amélie. She is middle-class, well educated with a South East England / Home Counties accent. Control is very important to her, routine and precision keeps her calm, but a combination of that and her coyness has held her back in the pursuit of romance. Setting up a date is a bold step for her, but she struggles to let her guard down. |
Jack | Male | Any Ethnicity | 25-30 | Mid-late 20s, average height or tall and slim build. Jack is also from the South East, and is handsome but geeky, it’s been a while since his last relationship and frankly he’s sick of being the nice guy or the perennial best mate of most of the women he knows. He is an indie boy, but more casually indie than achingly hip. He is also a bit shy but perhaps a bit more self-aware than Holly and his attempts at charm and flirtation don’t always quite work. Deep down he’s a good soul who would like a girlfriend, he would have a lot more luck if he relaxed and didn’t try too hard. |
