HOLMES - open ethnicity, they/them/theirs or she/her/hers. With powerful & unmatched observation skills, Holmes can sense more than the above-average human being. Former sex worker. Has a nasty opioid addiction. Not great with people. Uses observation & information as their currency to get ahead in the world.
WATSON - open ethnicity, she/her/hers. Former sex worker turned doctor, great at pillow talk turned bedside manner. Loves to journal and write short stories. Makes people feel seen and heard - uses communication & relationship skills as their currency to move up in the world. In love with LESTRADE.
MADELINE/TILDA - open ethnicity, she/her/hers.
MADELINE JAMES ("Irene Adler with a twist of James Moriarty"), is a former sex worker in the same house as HOLMES and WATSON. Terrifically smart, sometimes dangerous with a sly sense of humor. While HOLMES and WATSON decided to get out and start a new business, MADELINE wanted a different kind of life: one with absolute power and freedom.
TILDA LUTHER is a socialite and high-profile heir to a religious family dynasty going directly back to famous German thought leader, Martin Luther. Unconditionally empathetic, loving and sweet. But that is not all there is to her. Recently engaged to rock legend Von Ormstein.
GREGORY LESTRADE/THERAPIST/REPORTER - open ethnicity, he/him/his. A policeman with Scotland Yard. Knows HOLMES and WATSON from their past. When they wanted to get out, Lestrade gave them a start in detective work. Lonely, a bit bumbling, a romantic. Desperately wants to be someone's hero. Also plays a group therapist, comfortable with improvisation and a reporter ala "Weekend Report".
VON ORMSTEIN/REPORTER - open ethnicity, he/him/his. A German rockstar, often called "The Grand Duke of German industrial metal", though he prefers "The hereditary King of Rock". Bit of an ego, if you couldn't tell, but has good intentions. Risk taker with a dark past, struggles with drug and alcohol abuse. Also plays a reporter ala "Weekend Report".
Material To Prepare:
Please prepare a short monologue of your choice. The style of the show is very witty, reflective, a little dark, with moments of heightened language, as well as contemporary sensibilities. But don't worry about that...Just show us your favorite piece.
