Description:
EstherAnn Graber receives a phone call that brings her from Brooklyn to tiny rural Texas town La Vernia. The loss of the family matriarch brings Esther’s complex relationship with her own mother into focus and elucidates the many roles Esther plays. With moments of humor, La Vernia’s rich 16mm landscapes will create a subtle, visually and emotionally textured exploration of identity, family relationships and loss.
