Imagination Theater is now accepting submissions for artists to join our ensemble for Imagination Theater's 2019/2020 Season.

Seeking submissions from artists of all backgrounds - primary consideration given to those with (1) flexible daytime availability, (2) performance and/or teaching artist background, and (3) folks who are excited about engaging audiences (particularly young people) in participatory programming.

Additional consideration given to artists who are fluent in Spanish as well as artists who have cars and are able to drive.

ABOUT IMAGINATION THEATER ENSEMBLE
Imagination Theater's (IT) professional ensemble is a core team of actors and teaching artists who tour the dynamic programming to schools & other communities. IT's distinct style is based on techniques from Theatre of the Oppressed (also known as Forum Theater). The ensemble portrays a series of scenes. When each scene reaches a point of conflict, the show's facilitator freezes the action and leads the audience in a discussion about what they saw and what they could do differently in the same situation. We then invite an audience member on stage to replay the scene and navigate our actors toward a more positive conclusion. Under the auspices of a social issues role-play, participants become "spect-actors" performing and expressing themselves creatively. By exploring within the safe space of the theater, communities become empowered through the arts.

COMPENSATION / TIME COMMITMENT
Ensemble members are hired as part-time W2 employees with Imagination Theater and are paid an hourly wage for all work performed which includes performances, rehearsals, travel time, and meetings. Ensemble members are hired for the duration of the season which begins in mid-August 2019 and ends in June 2020.
