Description:
Cuddle Buddies is a short film about Lucy, a single mother that cuddles professionally with clients not only to alleviate their loneliness; but also to alleviate hers.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Lucy | Female | Any | 28-35 | Lucy is an incredibly empathetic and caring individual, who hasn’t always felt like she has had the voice to be strong and independent enough to stand up for her values. She is a professional cuddlist due to her innate ability to detect and help others in need. Because she lacked a lot of physical connection growing up, she has overcome the fear of touch and found it the best way for her to help others while still making a living and having purpose. Over time she has started to develop her inner strength and there is no better example than that of her fierce love and devotion for her daughter Marina. She would do anything for her and would sacrifice any amount of herself to ensure her daughter’s safety and health. Lucy is a giver, but doesn’t necessarily know how to receive, and so in this way Marina shows her. Lucy’s strength can also sometimes be her weakness in that the recollections of the former marriage to James still exist in her mind and haunt her. |
James | Male | Any | 28-35 | James is lucy’s ex-husband and who still fights for full custody of Marina from Lucy. They met in college and over time, he became jaded by the world and never quite realized his potential in the working world as a businessman and started to take this out on Lucy especially. The passion that ignited their relationship faded over the years and only got worse after Marina was born. Lucy was always the one putting more work into the care of their daughter and James only got more resentful and spiteful. James has always struggled to open himself up physically and emotionally due to a compulsive masculinity complex. Their relationship further deteriorated when James began fighting to take away Lucy’s most important thing to her, which is her daughter. James is now a shell of the passionate young man Lucy originally fell in love with. |
