Casting Call for boys aged 9-13 to play the lead role of “David” in a dark thriller set in an apocalyptic world. David is a charismatic boy living on his own, with no one to talk to but his action figures. He believes himself to be the King of a mythical world named Adventropa and when he meets dangerous strangers on his quest back home, he's forced to shed his childhood innocence in exchange for a crown of madness and glory.
The audition for each actor will be a quick discussion of the project, a cold read of the actual script, and an excerpt from the 2009 film “The Road”. The film will only be 4 minutes long and shooting will take place between the week of February 27th to March 5th. The actor will not be acting every day and the schedule is flexible within the confines of the week.
There is no dialogue in the scenes except for a chilling voice over from David so if the actor isn't initially the most talented speaker or reader, they can rest easy as long as they have a strong presence and understanding of the character.
This production is non-union and I am on a student budget so I cannot afford to pay these actors- but there will be craft services on the shoot, transportation money will be provided, and all actors will receive a credit and DVD of the final product.
|We accept auditions of ages 9-14, but it's preferable if they have not reached puberty yet. David is an orphan living on the road, who has replaced his family with the toys he carries. He owns one fantasy book that he treasures above all else called 'Adventropa'. David is the king of Adventropa and wears a crown wherever he goes. David loves stories and adventures and is overall a very sweet kid-until you get inside his head. David's an antihero. He's the main character of the story but he does evil things to get what he wants. He usually appears timid and innocent on the outside, but he's prone to anger, he manipulates others, and he is driven to get back to his great kingdom.
