BYOT Productions (Chicago, IL) presents the world premiere of "Aces & Eights" by Ross Childs. Detective Francine Noir's private investigator career has hit a rough patch. But when a distraught dame trying to find a lost will and a rich art collector with a missing painting's case converge, she must descend into the dark, grimey, and gut-busting underworld to uncover the biggest case of her life and rescue the only person who knows her filing system... and where to find the cheapest scotch.

While many of these characters are written to be played by individuals who identify he/him or she/her, our casting seeks to include all individuals who identify gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary. Cast of Characters:
Detective Francine Noir
-Female identifying or Non Binary
-The best detective Capt. Block's ever seen, she operates her own P.I. firm that works on a case to case basis. What can she say, it's a gig economy. She has random moments of self narration, often confusing those around her. Trouble follows wherever she goes.
Carrie Letfort
-Male identifying or Non-Binary
-Frank's loyal, lovesick sidekick and spunky receptionist. He knows Frank's filing system, and where to find the cheapest scotch. He would do anything for Frank.
Mischa Daniels
-Female identifying or Non-Binary
-A troubled woman, desperately trying to find her father's will. She is a powder keg ready to explode.
Reddmonton "Redd" Kingsley
-Male identifying or Non-Binary
-A wealthy businessman and curator of art. He hires Frank to find his missing painting, and is paying a lot of money to make his case a priority.
Captain Prudence Block
-Female identifying or Non-Binary
-The corrupt captain of city's 45th Precinct. Not above hiring outside help to solve a case, quid-pro-quo and all that. But once the case is solved, you're gonna have a long chat. Mark her words.
Knuckles
-Male identifying or Non-Binary
-"Redd's" bodyguard, will do anything to make him happy. Rough on the outside, with a soft, caring interior.
Dave/Ensemble 1
-Additional roles: Masked Man

-An assassin who's very creative and good at what he does. Looking to maybe get out of the business. Turn on's include: smells of fall and killing people anonymously for money. Turn off's: non-public place and word play. Has a weakness for pumpkin bread.

-Additional roles: Barista, Hot Dog Attendant, Ol' Smithey, Bartender

-A very, consistently reliable person. A number of ill-fated supporting characters.

Material To Prepare:
Please prepare a 60 - 90 second comedic monologue, and be prepared to cold read sides if asked.
*Those interested in being considered for the roles of "Carrie" or "Knuckles" will also need to prepare a short 16-bar piece to be sung acapella that best showcases your vocal ability.
