Description:
Pride Films and Plays is now accepting submissions for its fall 2019 musical, A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE, a musical adaptation of the 1994 film starring Albert Finney, by the same composing team that created "Ragtime" and "Anastasia": Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, with a book by Terrence McNally. This is the heartwarming story of Alfie Byrne - a Dublin man with a passion for staging Oscar Wilde's plays for his quirky community theatre group. Songs like "The Streets of Dublin", "Love Who You Love" and "We're Going Up" celebrate Irish lives and loves and the joys of putting on a theatrical production.
Directed by Donterrio Johnson and music directed by Robert Ollis, rehearsals begin in late August, with performances in October and November in the Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway.
Please note that we are flexible with respect to the age ranges and types suggested by the authors, and persons of all ethnicities, gender identities and disabilities are welcomed.
